Ever wondered how Marley Marl made the Eric B. Is President beat? @Dubspot did, and their “Classic Recipies” series is releasing the knowledge so many of us seek.

Dubspot is a DJ and production school based in NYC. A bunch of my folks work there, and two of my very good friends (DJ Kiva and my man Jase Mason) have very important roles there.

Music producer Arthur Baker is working on a documentary on the 808 drum machine. Arthur is best known for his work on the song “Planet Rock”, and a slew of other productions that helped to shape dance music as we know it. The influence of the Roland 808 in popular music can not be underestimated. See the trailer for the film (which will be released in 2013) above.

Tino is the illest! Tino is better than you. Tino plays the “DRUMS MAN!” Tino Corp was Jack Dangers (of Meat Beat Manifesto) and video genius Ben Stokes. And way back in the late 90s, they made the illest break records and videos (like the one above) to go with them.
