We are LIVE! On: www.black-scale.com Black Scale x DJ Synapse | Mind Games (Mixtape)

Mind Games. Everyone plays them, mostly with themselves. Black Scale brings out our long-time fam DJ Synapse, for our April mix to bring you Mind Games. These are the Mind Games of DJ Synapse, a New York stalwart, and brand developer of 15 years. The songs in this mix were blended live with two Technics, a Rane mixer and Pioneer EFX-500 box. The songs were completely new to Synapse when he mixed them, so it’s an improvisational affair. After blending the songs (22 in 30 minutes), Synapse laid his cut, paste and scratch flavor, to the mix, something he has always been known for. These Mind Games are an attempt at a new way of looking at mixing.

“How to dance to electronic trap music”

Music producer Arthur Baker is working on a documentary on the 808 drum machine. Arthur is best known for his work on the song “Planet Rock”, and a slew of other productions that helped to shape dance music as we know it. The influence of the Roland 808 in popular music can not be underestimated. See the trailer for the film (which will be released in 2013) above.

Imagine if you really did “CRY FLAMES”?

Howard Stern rips on Deadmau5, Guetta and more -

This is special, and hilarious.

CARIBOU - Sun (Video) - This video is pretty normal, by Canadian standards.*

I did a rather experimental DJ set of music I GUARANTEE you’ve never heard me play before (and was interviewed) over at Heritage Radio Network with Jack Inslee yesterday. Heritage is a food-based radio station that broadcasts from the back of ROBERTAS in Bushwick Brooklyn. Thanks to Aaron Bleach Crystals for inviting me aboard. I also hung and talked with Aaron and Herbert Spliffington at their show Gunwash as well. Spliffington comes with the fiery dancehall vibes, and I played everything from glitch, to moombahton to tropical bass, using effects, dicers (controller pads) and a rane 57 mixer. This is a rare peek into the more experimental things I’ve been working on.You can stream or download this.

I’m not just posting this video because it will get a lot of hits (which it will). I interviewed Theophilus London on my radio show a while back, and I actually got turned on to him way before that even. I don’t like everything he’s done, but I don’t like everything a lot of artists I like have done (Jay-Z, The Pixies, The Cure and so on). Not saying he’s at their level yet at all, but he’s (relatively) a youn’un, and I think he’s going to just get better.

Plus, I’m cool with this song.
