I was so into Wacky Packs when I was a little kid. They were around heavy in the 70s and 80s. They were these sticker trading cards that made fun of commercial products by parodying them. The thing about Wacky Packs that was so cool to me, was that they were a real pre-cursor to all the logo acquiring that took place in Streetwear and Graf. I’d love to go back and research who the first person was to acquire a product’s design aesthetic, and use it for their own art. From Pop art, to the Streetwear boom, to Reas, Espo and Twist’s legendary Street Market show, people love to take mass-consumed images, and make them their own. Wacky Packs are a great example of this.
Not sure if they’re still available, but this company LTL Prints was offering Wall-Sized Wacky Pack posters. They actually stick to any surface, and can be removed clean and re-applied easily.
