Just happened to be up at 8am thinking about Stairway To Heaven.
Stairway was a store in Boston, MA that sold rock/music related t-shirts, posters and “memorabilia”. It was also a head shop (?) Memories are blurry.  It was owned by “Mr. and Mrs. Stairway”, otherwise known as Nate and Kathy.
My sister’s best friend used to work at Stairway To Heaven when I was like nine, ten, eleven years old, and it had a huge impact on my early musical memories and foundation. My sister and her friends also worked at Avalon and other nightclubs on Landsdowne St as well.
I grew up (very young) in the hardcore scene in Boston, going to see Bad Brains, Murphy’s Law, The Bosstones and Fishbone play, as well as more mainstream bands like The Pixies and even Prince and The Cure. Stairway To Heaven was always the go-to spot for my musical-fashion needs.
There’s actually a Fan Page for the store on Facebook. I dug it up, and snagged the bold card and flick of the shop below from them.According to the fan page, the store was located at 141 Tremont St, but I remember another location on Brookline Avenue near Fenway Park as well. I have a feeling that location was short-lived, though.Regardless, the main location was in Downtown Boston, right near the Boston Commons. Great place. Happy to have this amazing legacy firmly planted in my memories.Tremont St. Location:

Sometimes you’re just…

I’ve known the @BoundlessNY dudes for a long time. Sorry to see their store closing, but I know they will keep moving on to other great ventures.

Boundless NY to close Brooklyn storefront, the company still plans to make its designs available through the online venue.“It’s a new day for us at Boundless as we have decided to close our Brooklyn store front. This was a very hard decision to come to but I do know that it is the right one for us. The brand needs to flap its wings and move on to greener pastures. We will be putting more focus on the lifestyle, clothing and music side of the Boundless brand. We will also be revamping our website and it will be re-launching this spring. Thanks everybody for all your support through the years. We are Boundless! We have decided to cancel our fall delivery, as we are not fully ready to put it out and sell it as envisioned. This is a very important delivery for us as it is our best work to date.  As the store is closing, we will not be delivering our fall line; instead we will be preparing for 2012 and will be showcasing and selling our summer 2012 collection very soon. Watch as there will be more to come.”Thanks for all your support!Sincerely,Teddy King & Boundless Crew

Making a trip to the SWAG shop. - Old Saybrook, CT.

This past Wednesday, my friends at Fools Gold Records presented their “Tight Spaces” series, where they have big DJs (all part of the Fools Gold fam) do exclusive DJ sets, and it’s all video-streamed live on the web. Even better, it’s archived after, and you can see the whole thing above.

All sets are filmed live at the Fools Gold Store, on 536 Metropolitan Ave in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Check the second installment above, featuring one of the nastiest DJs ever, and the Fools Gold chief, DJ A-Trak.

The whole thing is presented by G-Tech. Make sure to “like” their Facebook page to get all the future info on this thumping endeavor.
